Xpediator completes acquisition of EMT
In March 2017, Xpediator Plc completed the acquisition of Easy Managed Transport Limited (“EMT”).
Established in 1988 by Michael Mehmet, EMT joins the Group and brings with it long-standing experience in the fashion logistics services and textile industry. Operating from its 67,000 sq ft. warehousing facility in Beckton, EMT has built a strong reputation as a well-established retail logistics provider to the fashion warehousing solutions and textiles sector in the UK. EMT services high-street retail clients, such as the Arcadia Group, Next and Karen Millen. Xpediator also began by focusing on fashion logistics services and this remains a key sector for the company. The acquisition will mean the enlarged Group have an increased market presence in the retail logistics sector providing an excellent base from which to expand.
The rationale for the transaction is focused on growing the two businesses through combining their respective strengths and in so doing, benefitting from their combined market share of the fashion logistics industry. Specifically, the Group will look to combine EMT’s expertise and capabilities in the UK e-Commerce delivery sector and processing textiles with Xpediator’s strong international freight forwarding and courier services.
EMT’s warehousing facility is well located in terms of access to transportation links which when combined with their specialist 19 strong fleet of vehicles, all equipped with hanging garment transport capacity, makes the EMT site well suited to serving Xpediator’s fashion clients and already Xpediator has begun switching to servicing some clients out of Beckton.
Michael Mehmet, EMT Managing Director, explained, “This transaction enables our two businesses to expand our capabilities. As we can now confidently provide international freight forwarding and courier services to all future customers. This is an attractive addition to our existing customer offering. I believe in the commercial logic of bringing the two companies together and I am looking forward to working closely with the Xpediator team.”
Stephen Blyth, Xpediator CEO, said, “I am delighted to be working closely with Michael and I believe that the two businesses complement each other. EMT’s reputation for professionalism and high-quality service to major fashion clients is well known.
When added to our international freight forwarding and courier business there is a clear opportunity to approach both customer bases and offer a significantly enhanced service to our fashion clients who entrust their goods to us.”
